HON’BLE MR. JUSTICE P.K.BALASUBRAMANYAN

Hon’ble the Chief Justice, Shri P. K. Balasubramanyan completed his secondary education in the village school and graduation from Government College, Chittur (Palghat District), took the Law Degree from Madras Law College. Did apprenticeship under the guidance of Shri K.Raja Iyar, a former Advocate General of Madras. On enrollment, set up practice in the Kerela High Court at Ernakulam under Shri T.S.Venkateswara Iyer. Under his guidance, built up a good practice. Was legal Adviser to various Institutions and was standing Counsel for Food Corporation of India and State Bank of India.

       Was appointed as a Judge of Kerela High Court with effect from 04.06.1992 and as Chief Justice of Orissa High Court with effect from 05.12.2001 and as Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court, Ranchi with effect from 10.03.2003. Rendered a number of important decisions including the decision of Constitutional validity of ‘Bandh’ on behalf of the Full Bench of Kerela High Court..
